Pastor Steven Turikunkiko has set up a community in Rwanda for victims of the genocide. 160 widows & teenagers & 80 younger children live with him; farming, sharing their lives and caring for those dying from AIDS. The community subsists on less than $1 per person per day. At enormous personal sacrifice, Pastor Steven and his wife have also adopted 20 orphans - who live with them and their 2 other children. Family conflict makes children unhappy
 Family conflict is the main cause of childhood unhappiness. The Children's Society has surveyed 7,000 10-15 year olds and 7% of them said they were unhappy.Interestingly, the strucutre of the family (blended, nuclear etc) made a negligible impact on the young people. 17.5% said they were unhappy because of appearance, 16% because of lack of confidence. School work is the problem for 12%. However, the vast majority named family conflict as the biggest problem. |
