Pastor Steven Turikunkiko has set up a community in Rwanda for victims of the genocide. 160 widows & teenagers & 80 younger children live with him; farming, sharing their lives and caring for those dying from AIDS. The community subsists on less than $1 per person per day. At enormous personal sacrifice, Pastor Steven and his wife have also adopted 20 orphans - who live with them and their 2 other children. Lebanon Leaders Conference a success Last month the 5th annual Christian youth leaders training conference was held in Lebanon. This event is organised in partnership by 5 organistions; World Vision Lebanon, Lebanon Youth for Christ, Grain de Ble [Grain of Wheat], the St. Paul's Movement and the Arab Baptist Theological Seminary. The conference attracts youth leaders from across Lebanon and from a wide range of denominational backgrounds [Orthodox, Catholic, Maronite, Evangelical etc.] which is very unusual. This year there were 72 participants who enjoyed seminars in a range of subjects including; Developing Effective Youth Ministry; Team work; responding to challenging children/young people; working with parents; using drama and games with young people; supporting young people through crisis and first aid. The Saltmine Theatre Company from the UK also participated in the conference. The partnership is also in the process of developing a book which will be the first practical guide to youth ministry, written by local practitioners and is due to be published later this year in both the Arabic and English languages.
