Mosquito attack on Tokyo vandals
The Mosquiti is a controversial device - already used in other countries - that emits an unbearable high-pitched tone only audible to teenagers. Pretty soon, the teenagers have to move away from the noise - for their own sanity! Our hearing gets worse as we get older - and it seems that only teenagers can pick up the 17 kilohertz noise... The Kitashikahama Park in Tokyo has suffered vandalism to the cost of 700,000 yen last year. Regular patrols have not stopped the problem - and it is now hoped that the Mosquitos will make a real difference. In other countries - notably the UK - the Mosquito has been attacked by human rights leaders as being an indiscriminate abuse. There have been calls for local authorities to stop using the device - and they are now being removed by many local political leaders in the UK. |
