Introducing Pastor Steven from Rwanda:

Pastor Steven

Pastor Steven Turikunkiko has set up a community in Rwanda for victims of the genocide. 160 widows & teenagers & 80 younger children live with him; farming, sharing their lives and caring for those dying from AIDS. The community subsists on less than $1 per person per day.

At enormous personal sacrifice, Pastor Steven and his wife have also adopted 20 orphans - who live with them and their 2 other children.

Voting age to change in Lebanon

Download

Lebanon flag18-year olds will soon be allowed to vote in parliamentary elections in Lebanon. Draft legislation was passed by Parliament to reduce the voting age from 21 to 18 recently.

There are elections in June 2009 - but the legislation will not be passed completely in time for then. However, MPs have said that the nation should be really proud of this initiative. It is the first time that teenagers will be given a voice in the governing of the nation in such a direct way.

The Parliament refused to pass a law making an official quota for women MPs. Nevertheless, the beginning of changes to the democratic system are been welcomed all round.
