Pastor Steven Turikunkiko has set up a community in Rwanda for victims of the genocide. 160 widows & teenagers & 80 younger children live with him; farming, sharing their lives and caring for those dying from AIDS. The community subsists on less than $1 per person per day. At enormous personal sacrifice, Pastor Steven and his wife have also adopted 20 orphans - who live with them and their 2 other children. Youthwork: The Conference is here!
Through seminars, main sessions, prayer, worship and fellowship, delegates will get an opportunity to take a look at the big picture of why they do what they do, and will be encouraged to take time out to draw closer to God. The event will be held at Southport (14-16 Nov) and Eastbourne (21-23 Nov) and speakers include Mike Pilavachi, Nancy Goudie, Gerard Kelly and Steve Chalke. Worship will be led by Ben Cantelon. Martin Saunders, chair of conference organisers Youthwork the Partnership, said: 'I believe there's been a major oversight in the way youth workers are resourced and cared for by the wider church. We're so busy giving them ideas for working with young people, we often forget that the most important thing is their own relationship with God. You can't lead young people when your own spirtiual journey is in danger of being derailed, and this conference is all about helping redress the balance.
