Pastor Steven Turikunkiko has set up a community in Rwanda for victims of the genocide. 160 widows & teenagers & 80 younger children live with him; farming, sharing their lives and caring for those dying from AIDS. The community subsists on less than $1 per person per day. At enormous personal sacrifice, Pastor Steven and his wife have also adopted 20 orphans - who live with them and their 2 other children. Practical response to Bridgend suicides
Ignite Media, a new film and music production venture, has recently produced an excellent short film addressing the key issues. Whilst it speaks particularly into the Bridgend situation, its use and appeal is for a much wider constituency and can be used by anyone involved in urban youth ministry as an excellent discussion-starter. There have been more than 20 youth suicides in Bridgend, Wales since January 2007. Responses from media, Government, social services and churches have not always been helpful as a community tries to come to terms with what is happening and prevent it becoming worse.
