German police have seized a youth group's "Nazi material" this week. The Heimattreue Deutsche Jugend (HDJ), which organises camping holidays for children and young people, is alleged to be a neo-Nazi organisation which encourages young people towards right-wing extremist views.

It is illegal to display Nazi symbols in Germany - but Nazi activity continues to rise amongst young people, not least in the eastern states which suffer high levels of unemployment.

HDJ deny that they are a Nazi organisation, grooming young people in fundamentalist beliefs. They claim only to want an independent Germany, where traditional values are reflected in the healthy lifestyles - body, spirit and character - of young people.
