Pastor Steven Turikunkiko has set up a community in Rwanda for victims of the genocide. 160 widows & teenagers & 80 younger children live with him; farming, sharing their lives and caring for those dying from AIDS. The community subsists on less than $1 per person per day. At enormous personal sacrifice, Pastor Steven and his wife have also adopted 20 orphans - who live with them and their 2 other children. High School bans Bible Club
According to a recent Press Release, the Bible Club was seeking to develop self- and community-improvement by discussing "issues facing students, including those related to faith, human rights, and the value of human life." There was also a program to feed the poor in the local community. The school said that they would be allowed to meet if they discussed all major religions. A representative for the Club, though, has stated that, "Requiring the Bible [Study] Club to study either all religions or none is like forcing the Chess Club to also play checkers." A federal lawsuit has been filed against the school district on behalf of the students. |
