Pastor Steven Turikunkiko has set up a community in Rwanda for victims of the genocide. 160 widows & teenagers & 80 younger children live with him; farming, sharing their lives and caring for those dying from AIDS. The community subsists on less than $1 per person per day. At enormous personal sacrifice, Pastor Steven and his wife have also adopted 20 orphans - who live with them and their 2 other children. Christian persecution in India continues
The latest attacks came as a group of pastors were holding a conference in Badrachalam, Andhra Pradesh. Despite the fact that the extremists attacked those at the meeting, it was the Pastors who were arrested. Last Thursday too, in Hyderabad, a pastor and one other were attacked - accused of forcing Hindus to convert to Christianity. Ironically, the other man is not even a Christian! He is a vehicle inspector who refuses to take bribes in his work, say the agency Release International. In the last few weeks, there have been a series of such events - a church destroyed in Chattisgarh, a pastor beaten with iron rods on his way back from a prayer meeting, the burning of a thatched church and so on. Andy Dipper, CEO of Release International says, ‘Our partners in India report murder, destruction and intimidation of Christians...Please pray for our brothers and sisters in India.' |
