World Youth Day is coming!

World Youth Day (WYD) is the largest youth event in the world. This year, it is being held in Sydney, Australia from Tuesday 15 to Sunday 20 July 2008.

WYD is run by the Catholic Church. It is a global event - estimates currently reckon there will be 125,000 visitors from overseas for the event.

This is the first time that His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI will have been to Australia.

The event itself is open to Christians of all denominations - not just Roman Catholics. It is a celebration of faith amongst young people.
