Introducing Pastor Steven from Rwanda:

Pastor Steven

Pastor Steven Turikunkiko has set up a community in Rwanda for victims of the genocide. 160 widows & teenagers & 80 younger children live with him; farming, sharing their lives and caring for those dying from AIDS. The community subsists on less than $1 per person per day.

At enormous personal sacrifice, Pastor Steven and his wife have also adopted 20 orphans - who live with them and their 2 other children.

Youth Entrepreneurs in South Africa

South Africa flagThere is a growing interest in entrepreneurship amongst young people in South Africa, says a recent survey. The Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) study showed a positive attitude towards business and a willingness to work in partnership with others to achieve aims.

This study is important because it has positive implications for the future of South Africa's economic growth.

6 general trends were identified:

1. A culture of entrepreneurship amongst South African youth

2. Starting a business was considered a good life-choice rather than an act of desperation

3. Education as a useful tool for success is widely accepted

4. More young women are involved in starting business opportunities

5. Young people are confident in their knowledge and skill base

6. There is a feeling of positivity that success is possible

The issue is not how to encourage entrepreneurial thinking - the issue is how to support the entrepreneurial thinking that is already happening. The GEM group are hopeful that this new generation of South Africans will enable their country to compete on the international stage and help build a better future for their nation.
