Pastor Steven Turikunkiko has set up a community in Rwanda for victims of the genocide. 160 widows & teenagers & 80 younger children live with him; farming, sharing their lives and caring for those dying from AIDS. The community subsists on less than $1 per person per day. At enormous personal sacrifice, Pastor Steven and his wife have also adopted 20 orphans - who live with them and their 2 other children. Free condoms for young people
Chris Bryant, Labour MP for Rhondda, is concerned because the rate of teenage pregnancy in Wales stands at 33.7 per 1,000 girls - higher than the figure for England, which is 28.9. Of particularl concern is the statistic for his own constituency, which is 43.4 per 1,000. Mr Bryant has suggested that, as well as distributing free condoms, it would be good to send booklets on sex education to parents on their child's 11th birthday.
