26-year old Fouad Mourtada was sent to prison for 3 years, and fined $1,300, after setting up a Facebook profile in the name of Prince Moulay Rachid, who is the younger brother of King Mohammed VI.

Mourtada said that he was just having a bit of fun and has sent a letter of apology to the prince. However, he was convicted of "villainous practices linked to the alleged theft of the [prince's] identity".

As a result of the conviction, Moroccan bloggers went on strike for 24 hours.
