An Heroic Ministry
Introducing Pastor Steven from Rwanda:

Pastor Steven

Pastor Steven Turikunkiko has set up a community in Rwanda for victims of the genocide. 160 widows & teenagers & 80 younger children live with him; farming, sharing their lives and caring for those dying from AIDS. The community subsists on less than $1 per person per day.

At enormous personal sacrifice, Pastor Steven and his wife have also adopted 20 orphans - who live with them and their 2 other children.

CYM's Children's Degree

Download

The Centre for Youth Ministry is planning to produce a degree in Children's ministry.

The reasons for this are:

  • Graduate feedback has identified this as a gap in their training.
  • There is very little coherent training in Children's work and indeed no training available at Higher Education level.
  • Two of CYM's partners, St John's College, Nottingham and Ridley Hall, Cambridge, are expressing a particular interest in this venture.
  • There is also interest from a number of outside bodies.
  • CYM is represented on a group convened by the Archbishop's Officer for Evangelism among Children, aiming to produce a set of agreed standards for work among children.
  • CYM is also represented on a group considering the concept of Child Theology.

It is anticipated that the BA (Hons) degree will be available from 2009. Contaxct Rachael Williams for more details.
